  • Launch Reception: 5 PM - 7 PM, Friday, October 7th, 2005
  • Location: West Mezzanine - South St. Lawrence Market
(SW corner of Front & Jarvis)

Wireless Toronto is privileged to partner with the South Market Tenants Association and the St. Lawrence Market Complex to bring free wireless Internet access to the Market.

This joint initiative is a fresh way of re-imagining how technology, community groups, the arts sector, and businesses can come together to re-vitalize Toronto's public spaces.

St. Lawrence Market has been an iconic part of Toronto for 202 years bringing fresh food and quality products to the public in three centuries. Combining the best of the old and the new it is only natural that the Market would now provide the next step in public accessibility to its many customers and visitors.

Wireless Toronto is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit community group committed to encouraging the growth of no-cost WiFi to the city's public spaces. Working with local civic organizations, artists, and technologists, Wireless Toronto explores how wireless technologies can be used to build community in innovative and interesting ways.

Wireless Toronto has already launched a number of free wireless 'hotspots' with the support of our site sponsors and our members' volunteer labour. The first hotspot was launched at the Centre for Social Innovation at 215 Spadina Avenue; a complete list of hotspots can be found at wirelesstoronto.ca.
